Thaci meets Reeker, Palmer, talks on political developments in Kosovo

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has met in New York today, US Assistant Secretary Philip Reeker, and US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer, with whom he has talked about recent political developments in Kosovo. President Thaci said that although Kosovo is entering the electoral process, it is totally normal development, however.
“We have built traditions of free, fair and democratic elections, so I expect this to be the case again”, said President Thaci, in the Presidency's announcement.
President Thaci added that political parties, Kosovo institutions, will engage for the new government to be formed as soon as possible and deal with Kosovo's urgent challenges and needs.
On the other hand, Assistant Secretary of State Reeker said the US remains interested and committed to a Western Balkans in peace and stability, with clear European prospects.
President Thaci welcomed appointment of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer as the US special envoy for the Western Balkans.
This is a sign that Washington remains committed to peace and progress in the Western Balkans. This, on the other hand, gives us competition and confidence in the process of dialogue with Serbia and in the country's Euro-Atlantic future and our region”, said President Thaci.
President Thaci, during the day, has held numerous meetings with heads of various states of the world.
