“Before their grave, as president of the Republic of Kosovo, I expressed the deepest honours in the name of the people and the institutions of the state of Kosovo, for the sacrifice the Bytyqi family has made for Kosovo”, Thaci writes on Facebook.
“I was filled with the deepest feelings of respect, honor, but also the pain of visiting the Bytyqi brothers' cemetery in Yonkers in New York, along with parents of the nation's heroes, Star, Agron and Mehmet, with fellow fighters and members of the Albanian community in the US”, adds the country's head.
President Thaci has also met with fellow fighters from the Atlantic Battalion, along with their Commander Gani Shehu, in the country from which they are headed to come and fight for Kosovo.
Our “Our sons from all Albanian lands had left the American dream of coming and helped realise our dream of freedom, independence and equality in Kosovo. We are eternally grateful for this”, President Thaci stressed.
Furthermore, he has said that the Albanian community in the United States is still committed with the same zeal for the full realisation of Kosovo's citizenship and the rights of Albanians in the countries of the region.

MPB members have imprisoned the brothers on June 26th 1999 at the Serbia-Kosovo border line while helping a Roma family cross into Serbia. On July 9, 1999, Mehmet (21), Agron (23) and Star (25) Bytyqi was killed by members of Serbia's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to evidence presented during the trial, their murder has been ordered by current Interior Affairs Minister Vlajko Stojiljkovic. The order was forwarded through the chain of command to the execution.
Former Public Security Reservary Chief Chief Vlastimir Djordjevici, sentenced by The Hague Tribunal for Crime in Kosovo, and commander The NPP and the Centre for Teaching at Petrovo Selo, while today the founder of the nongovernmental organisation Centre for the Study of Terrorism and member of the Serbian Progressive Party's Central Council, Goran Radosavlevic-Guri.
