Lawyers of an informant whose complaint prompted the launch of procedures for the sacking of US President Donald Trump said Trump's words are endangering their client.
Since the transcription of his telephone conversation with the president of Ukraine was discovered last week, Trump has demanded that anonymous informant become public.
Letter from the legal team of informants in which lawyers pay attention to Trump's language was sent to National Intelligence Director Joseph Maguire's taskman.
“Last week's events have raised our concerns that our client's identity will be revealed publicly and that, as a result, our client will be put at risk”, wrote lawyer Andrew. Bakaj.
The letter specifically mentions Trump's call for the informant to be identified, as does the person who has given him information on the conversation with Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The letter quoted Trump as saying:
I want to know who the person who gave information to the informant is, because he could be compared to a spy. You know what we did in the days of old when we were smart? Right? With spies and treachery? We've been treating them a little bit differently than we have now”
The letter also mentions $50,000 that two conservative Trump supporters have offered as “bonus” for information about the informant.
The informant has discovered that Trump has asked Zelensky to investigate corruption his political rival, Joe Biden, and his son.
This phone conversation is now at the centre of investigations that have initiated the Democrats, which could end with the president's departure from the office.
But, to happen, even members of the Republican Party of Presidenty will have to turn against him.
The Democrats have said the informant will testify before Congress “very soon”, after the necessary steps are taken to protect his identity. /rel
