Chirac has been highly praised by many French for strengthening France's role as an international factor and for opposing Iraq's occupation in 2003, while sentence following the end of the mandate related to misuse of public funds did not greatly undermine the image.
The body of the late president will be awarded military honours in central Paris before he is sent to the church for religious ceremonies “Saint Sulpice”.
The heads of various states of the world will also take part in this ceremony, while later French President Emmanuel Macron will dine for them at the “Elysee” palace.
Among the leaders attending the funeral ceremony are German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
The late French president of Albanians is also remembered for his support of the start of NATO bombings in Kosovo in 1999.
Chirac, during his political career, except as president of France, has served for 18 years as head of Paris, writes “Reuters”, broadcasting Express.
