The post of Commissioner for Enlargement to the European Union may receive Croatian Euro-Depute Dubravka ãoica. The news has not been officially confirmed, but diplomatic sources in Brussels say Mrs. Macau is part of the list to be presented Tuesday by Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen.
The Croatian Eurodeput, Dubravka ãoica, is expected to run in the post of Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborship from Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen.
The news has not been officially confirmed, but diplomatic sources in Brussels say Mrs. Macau is part of the list to be presented on Tuesday.
After the commission's composition is presented, the European Parliament's vote of confidence should also be taken as a whole, while hearings with all candidates selected by Mrs. von der Leyeen will be held first. The mandate of the new European Commission will officially begin on November 1st, 2019.
But who is Dubravka dealt with?
She has been a member of the Croatian Democratic Union since 1990, while from 2001 to 2009, she has served as mayor of Dubrovnik.
When Croatia joined the European Union in 2013, Macau was elected Eurodeputte. This year she was also elected vice president of the European People's Party parliamentary group.
If its candidacy is confirmed, then this is good news for Western Balkans' aspirations to join the European Union. While in Serbia's case, in some cases Macau has stated it is unrealistic for Serbia to join in 2025.
In a statement made in May of last year, she said Serbia must earlier present the list of missing persons during the war, as well as restore cultural heritage assets.
So far, the post of Enlargement Commissioner has been held by Johannes Hahn, who is expected to receive a new portfolio in the next cabinet.
