The couple from Linz arrived in two packages, and one of them had a garment that they expected from the Netherlands, the other was extremely heavy.
When his wife opened it, she saw transparent bags of colored materials that she initially thought were pebbles for decoration.
But it was suspicious of her husband, so he turned the package into the post office from which the police were called.
Investigators eventually discovered that drugs had been sent to Austria instead of Scotland.
Scottish police have arrested a man in connection with the case, while their Dutch counterparts are trying to find out who sent the package.
