Agriculture insurance, important segment for sector advancement

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Kapllan Halimi, has hosted a meeting of the Kosovo Insurance Association Executive Director Sami Mazreku, with whom they have talked about the importance of the insurance system in the agriculture sector in Kosovo, as well as the further advancement of this system in the country.

 In this case, MBPZHR Secretary Kaplan Halimi has expressed himself ready to boost co-operation with the Kosovo Insurance Association, with the aim of advancing further this system and achieving other, interconnected and extremely important results in agricultural productivity in Kosovo.

  “The Minister of Agriculture will continue to be in favour of the agriculture sector, looking at better forms to protect the farmers' jobs and income on one side, but also the standard of their lives influenced by eventual production or quality losses, on the other hand”, said Secretary Halimi.

 On the other hand, Kosovo Insurance Association Executive Director Sami Mazrek has said that this component is essential in boosting agricultural business and with the launching of the insurance system in agriculture has initially created a suitable legal environment. “Providing products and agricultural resources is a very important segment to develop and advance, such as the agriculture sector and to make it more competitive, and to strengthen the right environment and increase technical skills in order to help as much as possible in easing the risks that threaten this sector, Mazreku has said.

Otherwise, earlier this year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development in co-operation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, have launched the agricultural insurance system in Kosovo.
