The prime minister said he is happy that Kosovo Customs works with advanced standards.
“Thank God for your choice, and don't be afraid, because I see you a little scared. After your birthday, I really enjoy your birthday. I'm glad that our Customs is a member of the world customs organization and you work on such advanced standards. I'm telling you, I think for a hundred percent of Kosovo. So, I have nothing but words and not only in this period will we always be together with all those who stay 100 per cent of Kosovo”, Haradinaj said.
Kosovo Customs Director-General Bahri Berisha stressed that the establishment of Customs in 1999 was a challenge, though it was one of the first post-war institutions to hold its activity initially at the Han border point of Elez and then at all Kosovo border points for the collection of revenues.
Although after Kosovo's independence, this institution has been challenged to manage border points in the north, Jarinje and Brnjak for three years, until 2011.
Berisha also said that beginning in 1999 from the first taxes, which were up to 150 euros, has now exceeded 13 billion euros in taxes collected for Kosovo's budget.
“Dogana over the past 20 years has shown results in its mission and is assessed as one of the institutions with higher organisational values and since the establishment has been among the main contributors to the budget and collection of revenues, where it has carried about 70 percent over the past 20 years and we can say that by this moment, Dogan has managed to gather for the state budget of about 13 billion euros”, Berisha said.
Bedri Hamza, acting minister of finance, said Kosovo thanks to customs work has macro-friendly stability and is convinced that Dogan will continue work on achieving the plan and fighting smuggling.
“I am convinced that Kosovo Customs will continue to do its work even in the future in fulfillment of the revenues plan, in fighting smuggling and other negative phenomena, in law enforcement and in maintaining the health of Kosovo citizens”, Hamza said.
Customs has also shown a documentary that reflects all developments between 1999 and 2019.
