A court in London ordered on Friday the seizure of Bitcoin, and other digital coins, worth nearly $1m from a computer hacker.
The judge, Joana Corner, decided that the state could seize amounts of digital currency from Grant West, 27.
West, from Kent to southeastern England, was sentenced in May last year to over 10 years in prison on charges of fraud plot, possession of criminal property and drugs.
“It must abide by the command of the seizure or face four years in additional prison, Corner said, rel reports.
Police said West used fake electronic addresses for attacks on more than 100 companies worldwide, stealing tens of thousands of customer financial details before selling data on illegal online markets.
