The date has been learned, as President Hashim Thaci has decreed October 6th as the date when Kosovars will address the ballot boxes. Early elections will be held as a result of Ramush Haradinaj's resignation from the prime minister's position, after which the ruling coalition refused to propose a new mandate for forming the government. That, even for the fact that for more than a year, the coalition has lost the majority in the Assembly. Thus, on August 22nd, MPs voted for the distribution of the sixth legislature, which they belonged to, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
And on Monday, the head of state has signed the decree to distribute the Assembly, which has entered into force immediately. Just hours later, the presidency confirmed the election date. That's October 6th.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kosovo is directed to take all necessary actions to organise and hold elections for the Republic of Kosovo's Assembly, in accordance with that decision and legislation under the power of”, says the decision, which President Thaci has signed.
