Macedonia's Economy Minister, Kreshnik Bekteshi, has said that with Kosovo Trade and Industry Minister Endrit Shala discussing the problem of establishing barriers between the two countries.
“As the economy minister and as institutions we established our facts and arguments why North Macedonia has taken such a measure. The move is not only taken to the Republic of Kosovo, but is a measure to all states that do not implement active or passive monitoring in terms of fish products”.
“From last year as Government, we have announced the institutions of neighbouring countries to start implementing this programme with the sole purpose that by imposing it we can apply and export our products to the EU”.
Bekteshi has said that the Republic of Northern Macedonia expects October to start negotiations for EU accession.
“we're obliged to activate these measures because we've taken obligations. We agreed with Shala that during the following period the Veterina Agency will prepare the programme for monitoring fish products and at the moment that it will prove that it begins with the implantation of that kind of program we as governments will allow the import of these products in our country”.
It is important that trade co-operation between Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo deepens, and in this context we have announced in the Republic of Kosovo that we are willing to accept all certificates between the two agencies to facilitate trade between the two countries”.
We support the Republic of Kosovo in all international instances and will continue to do so in the future. We are convinced that such decisions will no longer occur on the part of the Republic of Kosovo that according to our analyses they will not have great damage to our country's economy but is a message to the citizens of our country who understand differently. We expect the Republic of Kosovo to support our country as we do”
The North Macedonia institutions have warned the Veterina Agency from 2017 that we started with the active monitoring programme. We are told by the EU. We have been forced to take such a move that is not only worth the Republic of Kosovo, but all neighbouring countries. From 2017 we have announced, not only the Kosovo Veterans Agency”.
