The decision was made under Article 165, the first provision of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Also, the extradition issue is said to be decided on the North Macedonia Justice Ministry.
Ex-partor of KLA, Tomor Morina, was arrested Wednesday by Macedonian police on a warrant issued by INTERPOL, on Serbia's request.
After hearing the person in his lawyer's presence, as well as assessing facts and evidence, the judge of the preliminary procedure issued a ruling that accepted the prosecution's request and ordered that T.M. be detained for 30 days already in connection with the extradition procedure imposes the Justice Ministry”, the statement said.
Asked to comment on the issue of the arrest of former KLA member, Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, has said the law will be respected.
The rule of law and respect of international regulations and laws is the European norm, which I and all of you represent”, Zaev said.
“Procedura is carried out by the competent prosecutor, and therefore the competent judge decides, neither Zaev nor Oliver Spasovski (inner Interior Minister), Agim Nuhiu (new foreign minister), and no one else from the government”, Zaev added, saying that Northern Macedonia, like Serbia, is an Interpol member.
He cited on this occasion the fact that Skopje has voted in favour of Kosovo membership in this international organisation.
“The justice organs in Austria and Northern Macedonia, as in Greece and Great Britain, make the decision to extradite. The responsible institutions make the decision on the basis of the right to extradite or not. This right clearly states that he is a citizen of Kosovo, not of Serbia, and should be released from custody and the extradition of” should not occur, Zaev has said.
According to the Macedonian prime minister, Interpol said he is a citizen of Serbia.
This is not true. Our country confirms that he is a citizen of Kosovo and has a passport from Great Britain and Kosovo. At least from what I expect is to respect the laws of this country”, Zaev said.
Regarding the arrest of former KLA member Tomor Morina on Thursday, Kosovo Foreign Minister Bexhet Pacolli has reacted, saying Kosovo will not allow Morina's extradition.
Kosovo's top diplomat said Kosovo institutions will continue working for his release, as well as urging Skopje to reject the <x0 political mandates for arrests issued by Belgrade”.
We will not allow the extradition of any of our citizens based on Belgrade issued warrants. This is the red line for Kosovo” Pacolli has said. / REL
