According to him, a military operation could begin east of the Euphrates River.
Turkey and the United States are in talks to create a safe zone along the border northeastern Syria, where the US supports Kurdish militia YPG, Reuters reports.
Ankara considers the YPG a terrorist organisation and a threat to Turkey's security.
Cavusoglu voiced hope that an agreement would be reached in today's Ankara talks with US special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey.
