It has been 29 years since the violent closure of Pristina Radio Television by Serbian police forces, which came only three days after the July 2nd Declaration by Kosovo Assembly delegates.
At that world, hundreds of Albanian workers remained on the street, while Kosovo was engulfed by intelligence and cultural darkness.
29 years after, the RTP's Barbarian Oversight Council, recalling July 5th of 1990, at a media conference have talked about the contribution of then-informing Albanian journalists.
Kemal Sokoli, chairman of the Grevist Council, has confessed to the time when hundreds of journalists were expelled from Serb forces by the institution that was also informing the people. The RTP according to him was the nation's most humiliating rifle and synonymous with resistance.
After the barbarous Serbian RTP occupation in 1990, 1300 Albanian workers remained on the street, while Kosovo was engulfed in intelligence and cultural darkness. But through fabricated emissions, out in both Zagreb and Albania, with committed self - sacrifice, we cast that darkness. And we informed of the serious situation under the occupational temptation, as well as propaganda of the KLA's fair fight”, Sokoli said.
According to Kemal Sokoli after his liberation in 1999 when everyone expected to return, the unexpected occurred.
He says the Mustafa Thaci government has been misleading them by any means, for which in 2000 they are a judicial process.
The temporary government of the reptile, but even of the successor reptiles, deprived us of the right of human elementary access to our jobs for which we were sacrificed... LDK and PDK partisan clans on land 8 ha, still un privatised, the press palace is built NLB-Pristina of the new building”, Sokoli says.
Hilmi Kastrati, director of the RTP Board, said this institution, with its professional work, shaken Belgrade's fascist policy at the time. Despite that, society today says it is behaving in ignorance of this institution. He made it known that they are following legal ways.
The first century of the Municipal Court has ruled in favour of the RTP in a continuous manner, given the RTP's convincing facts in our favour has also set the first instance of the special Chamber of the Supreme Court of Kosovo. While the second instance of the Supreme Court's separate chamber, the RTP subject has been prosecuted at the Court of Appeals, for which we expect the quick response of this Court and the return of the institution and all the assets that this institution has, of course, the return of all workers to their jobs”, Kastract said.
He also made it known that the Strasbourg Court for Freedoms and Human Rights has ordered the Republic of Serbia to pay each employee 33,150 euros and a 10,000-euro sentence for each, on the contrary, this court will punish Serbia with daily bank interest.
Alexander Borg Olivier, legal representative of the Grevist Council, says he is committed to helping them so that their property rights can be realised.
“We are committed to helping The RTP will realise its property rights and receive assistance so that the many workers, who have given their lives for the company, can benefit from all contributions they have made to make this big and important company”, he concludes.
We remember that one day after the introduction of violent measures in the RTP, the decision came about to dismiss 13 journalists and editors.
An additional 1,300 media workers later left, and the only television information window was closed to Albanians for ten years until the end of the war, when Kosovo Radio Television started.
At that time violent measures were imposed on all social companies, and thousands of Albanians left their jobs.
