The owners of Stana Impero, who was heading towards Saudi Arabia, say they had been unable to contact the “ship, which is heading north towards Iran”.
The company says there were 23 personnel on board, and which approached several unidentified small ships and an Unidentified helicopter” in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Office of Foreign Affairs said that “with emergency” is looking at reports.
Government Emergency Committee, Cobra, is holding an appointment at Whitehall to discuss the incident.
The latest development comes after increased tensions between the United Kingdom and Iran. /Periscope
