NATO sees no reason for developing distrust regarding KFOR's mandate or execution of tasks, and if certain appeals arise, they are more related to the political agenda than the reality of the situation on the ground.
So stated a senior official of NATO for the Western Balkans and Russia Robert Pszczel.
“as far as it comes to contact with KFOR and these are all the groups living in Kosovo, but also those who co-operate with it, including good professional contact between KFOR and the Serbian Army, we have not received any particular complaint”, he told EB.
In other words, when we hear someone complaining, we have reason to believe that it has little to do with KFOR itself, but much more with a political agenda that has nothing to do with the reality on the ground”, the NATO official added.
Psczel said that in NATO they hear criticism that KFOR is not fulfilling its tasks, that there is chaos there, but stresses that this does not present the real situation on the ground.
At the moment when we have high expectations for the success of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina leading the EU, I think there is a higher level of responsibility when it comes to this rhetoric, the way you talk about the security situation in Kosovo”, he said.
Who will benefit from some kind of negative development, some new tensions, he asked.
