There are cases of domestic violence that not rarely end with fatality in our country.
Statistics show that domestic violence is sufficiently expressed in Kosovo society and in the harshest possible forms.
Indexline has contacted the Kosovo Police over the issue, where, according to them, in the first six months of 2019, 785 cases of domestic violence have been reported in Kosovo, and 330 persons have been arrested.
These are the records of the authorities in the order, where, according to them, most of the victims are women.
According to Kosovo Police data, the town of Pristina led mostly cases of domestic violence.
According to research by the Kosovo Women's Group's Network in 2015, 68 percent of domestic violence victims are women, while 56 percent of men have claimed to have experienced domestic violence.
This year alone, there have been a total of 5 victims in Kosovo who have ended in murder by domestic violence.
While compared to last year, a total of 1533 cases of domestic violence have been reported, where 8 cases have ended with murder.
Based on the statistics of the Kosovo Police in the past five years, there has been a fluctuation in the number of cases reported in domestic violence, with a total of 1225 reported in 2015, a total of 1038 cases reported in 2014, and 1087 reported cases reported in 2013.
