However, this project was never realised, as it came across its residents but also political parties in this municipality.
In February of this year, the prime minister decided to cut procedures to create a clear mirror about what the environmental impact of the plant's construction could be.
However, the head of the Peja municipality, Gazmend Muhharrier, has announced that they have already finally decided against building hydropower plants in the region.
He says that two municipal development plans -- the old one and now the new one -- do not predict hydro power plants in this city's rivers.
There is no possibility to build hydropower plants. The municipal development plan even the old and the new Pec municipality does not allow the construction of hydropower plants on its territory, so this job for the Peja municipality and its residents has ended”, Muhajer told Economy Online.
According to Mujarère, this decision has come, since their construction would destroy the environment and eliminate rivers that are beautiful on this side.
It's a huge damage to the environment, especially to Decan's Lumbard, the awareness of nature citizens has increased, and that's a good sign that Kosovo society is moving forward. There will be efforts of people who want to make good money without effort, to implement these projects, but in the municipality of Peja does not pass”, he says.
