Kosovo is not being treated directly by the EU

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has stated that Kosovo is not far away from the visa liberalisation decision with the European Union (BE), though many member states have not declared pro-pronounced the country's quest for movement in the Schengen Zone. France, Holland, Finland..., still have dilemmas if they will vote for visa liberalisation for Kosovo in the Council of Ministers [...]

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's office has said the government is doing its job in terms of lobbiing all EU countries on the right to freedom of movement for all Kosovo citizens.

The “government and other institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are doing its duty in the lobbiing of all EU countries for the right to the free movement of Kosovo citizens, including France, Holland and Finland, and that the opinion of these states is changing in favour of liberalisation. Kosovo has met the EU criteria for liberalisation and entry into the agenda of the EU Council is expected. So this will happen this year”, says the response to the Office of the Prime Minister.

While European Integration Minister Grant Hoxha, in an answer to the newspaper “Voice” stressed that despite the work of institutions to make visa removal possible, Kosovo is not being treated as if other aspiring countries that have already achieved the goal of liberalisation.

“I say the cut, nowhere on the guide is there a matchable point or chapter. Phenomenias that are processes have no dates, such as rule of law or combating crime and corruption, they are processes and never finished. These negative phenomena are a challenge for the world, while there is a refusal of achievements for our country alone is unfair. When I say this, I have in mind some countries that have liberalisation and that for phenomena that are assigned to us in those countries, they have no measurable treatment or numbers”, Minister Hoxha said.

She pointed out that the injustices being committed to Kosovo will not stop the country's work on empowering rule of law and fighting organised crime and corruption.

Hoxha added that given the official communication that Kosovo institutions have had with EU institutions, it has not been expected that Kosovo will face such a great delay until visa removal.
