Forgotten are the days when the club produced talents through the “academy La Massia”, as the days of expenses have come and now Barca is in a row with Real Madrid in this regard, transmits Periscopi.
Blaugrans spent large sums on the transfer of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembles, before spending about 82m euros on Frankie De Jong.
Recently, Antoine Greezmann joined the Catalonians for no less than 120m euros.
But Barca even reportedly could go even further, since she is said to be returning Neymar for the same amount she sold two years ago.
In view of all of this, what Gerard Pique had said about the club spending in 2013 now seems to be just ridiculous.
“Barcelona doesn't need to do it [to spend as much as Real Madrid], we know we are different because we can compete with them without having to spend much.
“Real Madrid spent a year without titles and spent 160m euros on three Illarhandoni, Isco and Gareth Bae players.
We can clearly transfer Neymar for 60-70m euros, but not three or four players. We're not a poor club, but we're racing the richest club of all. ”
