Suzanne Eaton, who disappeared more than a week ago from drowning, police confirmed to the BBC.

They said they are investigating the case as a criminal offence.

The 59-year-old biologist from the Max Planck Institute in Germany had attended an island conference.

Police in the port city of Chania, where the conference was held, said it was found on a rough and rocky terrain within the abandoned bunker about 10km away from where it was seen.

It was reported missing on July 2nd and then started searching for it.

Six days later, her body was discovered by the two local residents exploring the bunker, which was used by the Nazis during Crete's World War II invasion.
