The president announced that they have also discussed visa liberalisation.
“Yes, I have also suggested that Kosovo under no circumstances will accept new criteria for visa liberalisation, nor lifting tariffs or any other issue because Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation. There is a definite discrimination and treatment taking place for Kosovo citizens as if they were second-class citizens under these commitments of EU member states”, said President Thaci.
The president said at the meeting they discussed preparations for the Paris summit, which would be held on July 1st, where, according to him, there was an encouraging commitment of President Macron and Chancellor Merkel, Paris and Berlin, to have better preparation for the Paris summit, to be a summit that opens a safe perspective of the continuation of dialogue, the possibility of reaching the final Kosovo agreement.
Thaci reiterated that the fee must remain in force, while on the other side agreements that were reached in 2013 on all sides must be respected.
The “Dialogue must occur, but the Paris summit must also occur. This meeting will take place regardless of Vuciki's mood or not. Tarifa will not be removed, it is a legitimate decision by Kosovo institutions, although the powers in Kosovo are divided and I could say with the Kosovo Government's decision, I personally oppose the removal of the tariff. Also, definitely no one from the international community should allow Belgrade to introduce conditions for the Paris meeting or the continuation of the dialogue process. After all, though, we are neighboring countries even for weather if we discuss it well. No specific requirements have been addressed to me, it has been discussed how to best prepare the meeting and to have concrete progress from the Paris meeting, which I hope will be better prepared but also with concrete steps of progress”, Thaci said.
