Constitutional Court Judge Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi, who once slammed the LDK and Vetevendosje due to her political past, on Thursday has joined the two opposition parties.
Among the many issues sharing the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Vetevendosje Movement in 2015 was the appointment at the Constitutional Court of Judge Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi, writes Inseder.
At the Kosovo Assembly session on November 30th in 2015, Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi was elected a Constitutional Court judge with 66 pro-member votes.
LDK MPs voted in favour of electing Gerjaliu-Krasniqi, meanwhile, Vetevendosje strongly opposed its election to the Constitutional Court.
Gerxhaliu-Krasniqi has had close ties with the LDK at the time he was elected a member of the Constitutional Court.
She had been part of the LDK and a candidate for this party's MP in the 2014 parliamentary elections. Even Agim Krasniqi, Gerjaliu-Krasniqi's husband, has a past with LDK. He had been LDK deputy in the Kosovo Assembly in 2010-2014.
For these facts, Vetevendosje denounced her choice in court.
Four years later, however, Vetevendosje and LDK have joined the judge who once separated them, writes Insander.
Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi has been part of the Constitutional Court's court's court trial on 13 June of this year, when this court reviewed the motion put forward jointly by the deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement and those of the Democratic League of Kosovo concerning the competencies of the negotiating team.
And the Constitutional Court's court ruled in favour of the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo. The constitutionalist declared Kosovo's law and state delegation for dialogue with Serbia, adopted in December last year.
In the Constitutional Court's ruling, which was announced on Thursday (27.06), the “Law on Duties, Responsibilities and Compensities of the Kosovo State Delegation in the Dialogue Process with Serbia is said to be incompatible with the Constitution of Kosovo”.
In the Constitutional Court's ruling, it became known that the former LDK MP candidate Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi, except that it was an integral part of the court that examined the request of two opposition parties, it was also reporting judges in this act.
KMDLNJ also referred to Selvete Gerjaliu-Krasniqi
After winning votes to elect a member of the Constitutional Court in 2015, against the decree of Selvette Gerjaliu-Krasniqi from the Office of the President of Kosovo had also reacted to KLMDNJ.
The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms (KMDLNJ) had since demanded Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, that she not decree Selvete GerjaliuKrasniqi for Constitutional Court judges because she has been the LDK candidate for deputies.
KMDLNJ said its choice would be in conflict with morality, would represent conflict of interest and direct political interference.
“KMDLNJ urges Kosovo president not to decree Mrs. Selvette Gerjaliu '% Krasniqi for constitutional court judges precisely because the vote was politically and partyly supported, and in a way was known to be the epilogue of the vote (in the second round) by discriminating against other candidates who have only served as numbers for meeting the procedural aspects and which would ensure the regulation of the process, from competition to vote”, he had said. KMDLNJ in 2015.
The KMDLNJ had stated that it did not match Mrs. Selvette Gerjaliu '% Krasniqi but disputes the political and party background of her vote exclusively. ”
