During today one of the architects of the plan died that led to Kosovo independence, Albert Rohan. He was 83 years old and stopped existing in his home in Vienna.
But who was Mr. Rohan?
For the Kosovo public Rohan received attention in Vienna negotiations, which would result in our country's long-awaited independence, writes Periscopi.
Rohan had also commented on debates sparked by Serbian and Kosovo President Vuciq Thaci for changing Kosovo's borders. Austria had stated that “was the wrong way” in an interview for the Austrian newspaper “Der Standard”.
Since the 1990s, within the framework of Austria's Foreign Ministry, Rohan had maintained clear opposition to Serb aggression on Slovenians, Croats, Albanians and Bosniaks.
Albert Rohan [Prince Albert de Rohan] was born on 9 May 1936 in Melk, in Lower Austria. He studied law at the University of Vienna. Since 1963 he was part of his country's diplomatic service. In 1977-1981, he had been Director of the UN Secretary General's Executive Office. He had held a series of other positions, including that of Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Rohan was a member of the princely branch of the French House of Rohan; his ancestors had fled from France to Austria during the French Revolution. He had family ties with Queen Geraldine, whom the first Albanian King Ahmet Zogu had married. /Periscope
