Anis Akbar, the police who are leading the investigation into Farisa Momand's murder, told Radio Mashaal that the suspect has been arrested and that during his appearance in court on 22 June, he has pleaded guilty.
Akbar said the suspect was neighbouring the murdered girl and that the victim's family had complained of harassment even in the past.
The victim's father, Ghulam Nabi, said in an interview for Radio Mashal that he and his wife have identified the suspect during the trial hearing. He added that now “is in the hands of the police to testify to” if he is the killer, transmits the REL.
The Farisha murder case has sparked protests, and this act has been condemned nationwide, where crimes against children are common and often go unpunished.
The 10-year-old girl's disabled body, Farisa Momand, had been found on the outskirts of Islamabad, four days after she disappeared from her quarter on May 15th.
