OAK: Macedonia blocks Kosovo fish import

OAK is very concerned, as this decision has come into force since 01.06.2019, with which the import of living fish dedicated to growth or filling up small fish originating from Kosovo.
With this case, the Trofta Company without prior warning has been told of making that decision. With this decision, not only have local fish cultivation businesses and the Trofta Company in particular, but worried are Macedonian businessmen who are not able to be supplied by Kosovo. With this decision, even more Kosovo exports decreases, which is also extremely low (90% importing and 10% export). Moreover, a tax of close to 700 euros has been imposed for any entrance of the fish trucks to Macedonia. Business states it is willing at any time to expect inspectors to inspect the country and perform the necessary tests in a third state, which it already possesses. In this regard OAK has been addressed with a letter to the Ministry of Trade and Industry to take urgent measures to abolish this decision on the part of northern Macedonia. Also, Kosovo Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and AVUK has been announced. OAK requires urgent measures to be taken regarding this”, the OAK communiqué says.
