For every month, about 100 Kosovars are being sent for recovery abroad

For every month about 100 Kosovo citizens apply to the Ministry of Health in an effort to ensure the possibility of healing abroad. In the first six months of this year's treatment of sickness 661 citizens have turned to MSH. In all these cases, 5.6 million [...] have been spent from the state budget.

Public health institutions in Kosovo for years suffer from drug shortages, poor quality of health services, but also poor working conditions. Unable to give patients adequate medical services, these are forcing themselves to be found outside Kosovo.

Curing in Kosovo cannot even find Aaron, who has only one year of life. He is suffering from a rare genetic disease called”Hypton”, which is mainly shown in Aaron's age children.

Kosovo doctors in the inability to treat this disease have recommended that Aaron be treated in one of the European states.

But for that to happen, his family is seeking financial help. That's because the family doesn't have enough money to cover the expenses. His father, Rrustem Brahimi, has sought everyone's help since, according to him, Aaron is now in extreme stage of illness, and they need help from others.

Your “Your assistance may be providing cash in the cone for the collection of funds for recovery. Helping us find any hospital in Europe dealing with this problem of Aaron”, Aaron's father wrote on social networks asking for his son's help.

For six months nearly 700 citizens sought healing outside Kosovo

And the same situation as this family has hundreds more in Kosovo.

Kosovar patients cannot find healing in their native country. The lack of health services has led only during the first six months of this year -- healing for the diseases they are suffering from -- at the Ministry of Health in Kosovo -- to seek 661 citizens.

That's how he told about Express, officials from the Health Ministry Information Office. For these cases, about 5.3m euros have been spent.

“During 2019 at the Health Insurance Fund, the Out of Health Treatment Programme, respectively, has applied 661 persons. The amount approved for treatment outside Public Health Institutes is 5.3m euros”, the Ministry of Health declared.

According to the ministry, Kosovars are mostly looking for diseases related to otamology, Ortopedi, Oncology and Paddy.

And the hope of Kosovars finding healing in Kosovo for all the diseases they suffer with is slim. According to the ministry, it is working that the otamological services are performing in the country by buying new equipment.

Until 2017, the programme for treatment outside public health institutions has spent mostly money on cardiovascular diseases. It has already started working that even in the otamology and Orthopedic will become necessary investments to increase the dynamics of work and increase” services, MSHA officials have declared.

Despite that, during the entire year for recovery outside Kosovo, about 9m euros have been applied to 1,000 and 432 people with the budget spent.

However, not including Kosovo within the free, visa-free movement zone is costing many citizens who for various needs want to head towards European Union countries.

The biggest challenge remains for patients who cannot receive health services within Kosovo and are seeking recovery abroad. But their visa equipment remains their own challenge.

Malije diseases, acute leukemia, heart operations are just some of the diseases that public institutions cannot afford in the country for Kosovars.
