Maria Sukoko takes office as UNDP's permanent representative in Kosovo

Maria Sukokko (Finland) has been named UNDP Permanent Representative in Kosovo starting work since today. It replaces Alessandra Roccalsalvo, which has been in office from January 1st, 2019. Prior to his appointment on the job, Suokko was senior adviser to the Finland Foreign Affairs Ministry in Helsinki since September 2017. She also served as the Leader for Co-operation near Finland's MPJ in Myanmar (2014-2017) and Senior Adviser at the MPJ in Finland (2012-2014).
Her experience with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) includes the post of Programme Specialist at the Regional Bureau for Asia and Pacific (2006-2010), UNDP Permanent Representative China (2001-2005), UNDP Environment Programme Manager in Cambodia (20000- 2001) and UNDP Programme Official Thailand (1998000).
It has a Master's degree in Social Sciences (Ekonomim) from Helsinki University.
After her appointment as the Permanent Representative to the UNDP office in Kosovo, Sukokko said she would continue efforts to build a stable future.
I am taking this task at a very important moment as the office is marking the 20th anniversary of successful co-operation in Kosovo. I look forward to meeting all our Kosovo and international partners and continuing our joint efforts in supporting the development path that will ensure a stable future for all”.
