Berisha has said that last time Kosovo's application to Interpol was politicised greatly by Serbia, with Kosovo's army being unable to join this security organisation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of Kosovo has said it will require the EU to respect the agreement Serbia has made in Brussels for failing to prevent Kosovo from membership in international organisations.
“In the EU we will have a new facility after the European Parliament elections. These institutions will be consolidated in October and perhaps they will not have much time to pressure Serbia on this issue, but we will assess the situation”, he said at RTV Dukagujini.
“I am not to challenge Kosovo once again in this process if we fail to reach our international partners to create a positive atmosphere which is depressing. We'll see if we have to go to the polls or not”.
Berisha says membership in Interpol, however, is a technical process, and according to him our police meet these technical criteria, but that criteria are not enough, Telegrafi conveys.
The process is political and diplomatic. Decisions do not take over state police... unless we can create an environment that gives the likelihood of membership we have to examine the process”.
He says that in the latest situation in Interpol the vote has been almost 50-50, and that according to him Kosovo should carefully review how co-operation with the allies is going.
If it is again on the political level, it will be a new battle that we have to go close down and review this issue”, Anton Berisha said.
