Eight years after FBI rule forces opened a case against the Mariposa group, which is a group of international hackers, officials are launching charges against four top suspects. One of them is Albanian Mentor Leniqi, 35 years old.
The case had started in 2011, when US officials first began complaining about European hackers. Investigations revealed an empire of cybercriminals that led to the collapse of the famous Darko, which is a target for hackers of <x0, strong”.
Last week, the U.S. has issued new documents about the case, as well as included in all four hackers, who have been issued warrants.
The four suspects are Matjaz Skoric, Florence Carro Ruiz, Thomas McCormick, and Mentor Leniqi.
Mariposa is a computer virus that, once you enter a personal computer, gets private information like bank accounts.
Skorjan was the leader of the group while Leniqi with McCormick provided assistance. In a short time, Mariposa infected a million computers.
Skorjan was sentenced by a Slovenian court and served a sentence of four years and three months. That seems to be why the United States waited until now to issue warrants.
