Following the demands of civil society, which through peaceful protests have demanded that the Assembly not pass the Political Party Financing Bill, as well as suspend their participation in the Ad-Hoc Parliamentary Commission for the upgrade and strengthening of the Election Process, the Kosovo Government has withdrawn this bill.
This was made known Friday by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who stressed that attracting the bill is the right decision following the civil society's objections to it.
After concerns raised by civil society, in terms of changes to the draft bill on the Financing of Political parties, I proposed that at the next meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo be made the decision to withdraw this bill from the Assembly of Kosovo. Given the importance this Bill has, for the development of democracy in the country, the need for transparency in the function of policymaking and involvement of all sides in the creation of the Bill and its well-based legal and democratic relocation, is the right action”, Haradinaj wrote on his page.
