At the EU Summit, only one sentence about enlargement

Only a short sentence has been dedicated to the EU enlargement process in the conclusions of the European Council, more precisely at the summit of heads of state and government, under way in Brussels. It says the “European Council approves the conclusions for enlargement and the Stabilisation and Association Process approved by the Council on June 18th [...]
The European Council is in the form of heads of state or government. The Council approved conclusions on EU enlargement, which were more or less in line with the enlargement package and progress reports, which the European Commission approved and published on May 29th.
Busy with attempts to reach reconciliation over the election of European Commission president, which is one of the first positions to be established and then other key positions in EU institutions, the leaders of member states have had no time, no will to address the enlargement issue.
Earlier in the week, EU ministers at the Council General meeting removed this topic from the agenda, failing to reach the decision to open negotiations with northern Macedonia and Albania, two candidate countries, which, according to the European Commission's assessment, have met the necessary criteria.
