Albania has been going to elections today, as never since 1990, half a century since the fall of communism.
So begins the giant media article The BBC, which has turned its attention to local elections currently held in Albania.
Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, has campaigned hard for Sunday's local vote even though his Socialist candidates have no rivals in the face.
The main opposition is boycotting these votes even though encouraging supporters to remain calm.
President Ilir Meta has issued a decree to postpone the vote, but Rama has rejected it and has begun moves to dismiss the president, who had earlier had an ally.
For months, the opposition has staged major protests calling for the prime minister's resignation and new general elections.
They accuse Rama of former electoral fraud and corruption, which he denies, said further in the article, conveys the Kosovo Clan.
