There's still work on the Arbe Xhaferi highway, “Bechtel & Enkes has continued the contract

Although plans were to open on December 31, 2018, this highway was not opened until now because of delays in work and payments.

But, works on the R6 segment of the highway have not yet been completed, and the company Bechtel & Enka has works on it until 2020.

This, as the government of Kosovo has approved the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport's application for extending the contract's term for construction of the R-6 Highway.

In a Government decision, signed by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, the proposal for building the keys Ferizaj, the Year and overpassing in Paldenica has been approved.

With this decision, the ministry has been authorised and obliged to negotiate with the consortium Bechtel Enka for building locks and overpasses.

That is because citizens of these areas have sought keys on the highway, which connects with the neighbouring state of Macedonia.

The duration of this contract is from 01.06,2019 to 01.12.20. But how much these projects will cost the budget is still unknown.

Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekay for Indexline has said that the project's size and estimates must be made.

“The decision by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, for the keys to Ferizaj of the Year and overpassing Elez's Paldenica Khan, has been taken over last week. As a result, it is still early to talk about concrete prices on how much these three projects will cost, since the size and calculations of the” project must be made, Lekaj said.

The length of the Highway is 5.7 miles [5.7 km] without letup, while the altitude is 83m.

383 subsurgeons from Kosovo worked on the project, and the number of workers has been 9 thousand and 384.

The project as a whole has cost 706m euros.
