Mavis Patterson of Glenluce challenged herself in memory of three of her children who died in four years, writes BBC, broadcast Periscope.
She left on May 30th and completed her epic journey on Saturday afternoon.
The Guinness Book of Records had confirmed that after the marathon ended, she would be the oldest woman to perform such a thing.
Her son Sandy died of a heart attack in 2012, Katie's daughter after suffering viral pneumonia in 2013, and her son Bob in an accident in 2016. All were under 40 years of age.
“I've always put myself before a goal and a challenge, so the cycle takes my mind from the grief I suffer over the loss of children”, she said./ P ERISCOPI/
