Kosovo, which relies on coal for its energy needs, will benefit from the cleanest and most stable energy power park in the country. EBRD support for the Kitka wind park follows a successful commitment with the Kosovo government to further support renewable energy through the banking sector.
As a result of these reforms, facilities have already been approved for support of renewable energy sources, which are expected to attract considerable interest from investors.
“This investment presents a historic moment towards designing in a country where lack of sustainable access to electricity remains one of the biggest barriers to development. Enhancing renewable energy will help address the dual challenge of power outages and pollution caused by the lignite coal used by Kosovo's two main power plants”, the report said.
The ceremony is held today from 1500 at Hotel “Sirius” in Pristina.
