Telekom urges government to return 15m euros, Mustafa says it was illegal

For that, he has decided to include the former government led by Isa Mustafa.

Kohavision has secured the letter the Board of Telecom has sent this Wednesday to Finance Minister Bedri Hamza's address.

In the letter sent by the Board's chairman, Besa Shatri-Shahini, it is said that 4 years later, the Board has come to know that the incident paid in 2015 by Telekom for Government has occurred through an illegal decision.

It says that through a March 24th March 2015 decision, signed by Isa Mustafa, Telekom is required to pay 30m euros in distribution, while through a letter of August 7, 2015, Finance Minister Avdullah Hoti had charged Telekom with paying the divide.

“Based on financial mirrors and Independent Auditor's Report, Kosovo Telecom. A., given the year ended on December 31, 2015, reveals that Telekom has operated on losses for the fiscal year 2015, subsequently without financial opportunities for property statements and the payment of the divide. Consequently, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo decision number 17/20 of the 2403.2015 date, signed on Mr. Isa Mustafa and also Zv's request. Avdullah Hoti in the quality of the finance minister, is not in line with the legislation in force”, the Board's letter says.

Mrs. Shatri-Berisha comes to the conclusion that Telekom has been forced by the Government of Kosovo to declare and pay the bills contrary to the law in force, because it operated on losses.

Therefore, the Board asks the Government for understanding of the return of 15m euros to Telekom, because it believes the Government accepted them without legal grounds.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Finance at Mustafa Government, Avdullah Hoti, has told KTV that Telekom's request for the return of the divide is absurd and has called on the government not to use citizens' taxes to pay the management failures.

“Telekom has been asked to pay the divisions in 2015, with the Government's decision, which is Telekom's shareholder. How has Telekom implemented an illegal decision since then? Therefore, this demand of the Board of Telecom, in the form of how it is paved for the return of the divide, is absurd. It cannot and should not have the citizens' tax government pay for management failures and the Telekom Board to operate profitablely, in a regulated and guaranteed market for Telekom”.

A parliamentary investigative commission has been established to investigate the serious situation in Telekom, following KTV reports on employing at least 230 people, mainly AAK militants, PDK's NISMA within a year.
