In a public letter, Rama has said that despite Basha's refusing the first invitation, however, dialogue remains an alternative to resolving the situation in Albania.
Below is Rama's public letter to Basha:
LET The 2nd and the 2nd BULZIM PUBLICS
Mr. Mayor,
I got your reaction to yesterday's letter yet without her “drying out her” ink, and I'm not surprised at the brutal rejection of the dialogue on your part. But since my obligation is to insist, without losing patience, the only way democracy, Dialogue, I am determined to offer you all my readiness, to yield to dialogue.
Of course, you are in your right to lead your political grouping towards the abyss, daily marching like you live in a parallel world, without laws, no rules, no others who think quite differently from you in this country (the overwhelming majority, including most of your voters) and outside this country without exception from all friends and partners in Albania.
You are in your right to address Albanians as being unconscious, not knowing what democracy is, the law of freedom itself, and to treat the country's international partners as if they do not exist.
You're also in your right to aim for the withdrawal of a few individuals who may, well, be ready to commit electoral crimes and lose their freedom, according to the predictions of the Criminal Code for those crimes and yet, rather, say goodbye to the US and to the countries of the European Union, as undesirable persons in a world rotating through democratic elections, not through violence over them.
But, dear Lulzim, fortunately you're not alone in this country, nor those who will follow you on your unique, ever smaller adventure are not even the people of this country. Which freedom and right to choose has not borrowed from you or from me, and also, you owe neither to you nor to me nor to anyone in the world, lack of time and peace of the next election.
So again I publicly appeal: Let's sit on Dialogue Table! Without conditions and without wasting time.
The election campaign officially begins on 31 May and the numbered days have remained, should be used for political dialogue, not lost with desperate violent threats that do not embarrass you only, but also our country and all of us with it.
Come to Dialog to reason as people with great responsibilities and face our great dilemmas, with the power of reason, before the inertity of the wrong way you've taken to you you've infiltrated the esphelt of political darkness, despite your grouping. Once again, I don't need your political destiny, nor the political fate of that grouping... even in my opinion, bluntly, the complete collapse with the hands of the grouping you're blindly leading... is a good omen for this country and for the very future of the irreplaceable opposition institution... but this moment of particular importance for Albania, I beg you to return! Because Albania has time to waste on the wrong political accounts and anti-democratic adventures of anyone.
Guaranteed that I am at your disposal, at every moment and unconditional for a dialogue on Albania, as well as by making sure that if all those desperate from the Justice Reform are pushed upward, they will not stop the implementation of the Justice Reform, nor the development of elections on June 30th, I wish to return to Tuaj as quickly as possible on the path of reason.
Edi Rama
