After two months of being recruited as political adviser to Foreign Affairs Minister Amir Ahmeti has secured wages as much as an ambassador.
Ahmeti had been engaged as adviser to Minister Behgjet Pacolli in November 2017, but on January 10th of 2018, with a Pacolli decision, was appointed “in charge of temporary work”, in order to establish the Kosovo diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates.
Since such a position does not exist, MPJ has told KTV that Ahmeti's work has been the same as an advisory minister, which is diplomatic degrees.
Since he has been in charge of the job, Ahmeti has received 2,870 euros in monthly pay.
Under the decision, the new post should be held until the ambassador's appointment to the United Emirates and then be restored to the MPJ.
But once Avni Arifi was elected ambassador, Minister Pacolli has made sure that Ahmeti's salary or office is not violated.
With a new February decision this year, Pacolli has appointed Ahmeti tasked with work and chief of the Kosovo Republic of Kosovo Diplomatic Mission in Qatar.
This mission still does not exist, but in a response to the MPJ, it is said Ahmeti is ready to finalise his establishment.
In the written response of the MPJ Information Office, it adds that Ahmeti has never received the councilor's salary.
“Ahmeti, based on the first decision, has started working on our mission to the United Arab Emirates immediately and has never stayed in Kosovo and received the councilor's salary. This is an error in interpretation and misinterpretation. Mr. Ahmeti has earlier been adviser to Minister Pacolli, before being appointed in charge of establishing and functioning the mission in the EBA. Now, in 2019, after completing the SAA mission, Ahmeti has been appointed in charge of work in Qatar, with the aim of establishing the mission, as well as”, said in a response by the MPJ Public Communication Division.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has justified these changes in decisions with the fact that Amir Ahmeti has had a position equivalent to that of the minister of council and that he, since the beginning of 2018, has been exercising his post outside Kosovo, originally in Abu Dhabi and then in Qatar.
Under the decision, the length of Ahmeti's term in Qatar, at the embassy that has not yet been finalised, is until the appointment of chief of the Kosovo Diplomatic Mission in this country.
