Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj and Social Democrat Initiative Chairman during an official visit to Germany, has met with MP to Bundestag and rapporteurs for the Western Balkans Johannadeful, who has said Kosovo and Serbia will prepare well for the Paris conference and be able to reach compromise.
Fadaphul, who is also deputy chairman of the CDU-CSU faction at a media conference, has said they have discussed bilateral relations, but also concerning the situation in Kosovo and the normalisation process between Kosovo and Serbia, which Germany is very interested in helping.
For us it is very important that after the conference we had here in Berlin, the idea of exchanging territories or correcting borders has been put aside. This may be an election for Kosovo, but Serbia can cause more problems than it can produce positive effects on resolving problems between these two states. So our advice to both sides will be to focus on the compensation process and on preparing the conference in Paris on July 1st and 2nd of this year. We look forward to this phase in the hope that we will be able to see their concrete results and kindly ask both sides to prepare well and be able to reach compromise... The two states -- Serbia and Kosovo -- are on their way to Europe and what Germany can and will do is, of course, the issue of visa liberalisation, which is important for Kosovo. We hope to find solutions in predictable times in this case”, he has said.
Meanwhile, Fatmir Limaj after the meeting said they have discussed preparing the Paris meeting, dialogue with Serbia, the tax and visa liberalisation.
“I assured on behalf of the Government of Kosovo we are committed to Kosovo- Serbia and to close this issue, we want our country and our joint investment for 20 years in a multiethnic society with nothing to be violated, we want to consolidate our state and we want like other countries in the region to travel towards the common goal of European integration. For us, the Berlin Summit has had an opportunity to unlock and remove ideas that do not help solve the problem and I believe that the Paris summit will be better prepared, Germany's commitment to us is very important and gives us security and lift the seriousness”, he said.
Limaj also talked about visa liberalisation.
Germany's “engagement in visa liberalisation is strategic for Kosovo. Our friends here know how important visa liberalisation is for Kosovo, and we expect that this issue will soon end and Kosovo citizens will move freely, where they have the place west “, he has said.
Limaj will hold important meetings in the German Bundestag, the Office of Chancellor Merkel, as well as the foreign ministry.
This visit by Limaj is taking place just days after holding the Berlin summit, organised by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
