The ship's control came from Guardia di Finanza following an alarm issued by French anti-drug authorities.

Operation While a plane was monitoring the boat from above, patrol boats went into effect blocking drug traffickers 96 miles southwest of Maritimo.
An international anti-drug operation, led by the Financial and Economic Police Unit, with support from the Messina air and sea group, led to the seizure of over 5 tonnes of drugs.
The destination of drugs was initiated by Morocco and would soon end up in retail markets in half of Europe.
