The Central Election Commission will decide tomorrow about political subjects and candidates for mayors who have applied for participation in the extraordinary elections in the four northern municipalities.
The CEC members, at the latest meeting, have demanded that the entire Serbian List app be looked into carefully, and its candidates, who, even though they have resigned from the position of mayors in northern Mitrovica municipalities, Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zvecan, have applied the same for the extraordinary elections, which will be held 19 May.
They have even raised concerns about the resignational candidacy, demanding that the legal and constitutional part of these legally defined criteria be viewed.
The recommendations for registering political parties will be presented tomorrow, while then it is left to members of the CEC deciding on political subjects or candidates who may or may not participate in the elections.
Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi in an interview for Kosovo Preress has said the Office for Registeration of Political Partys is in preparation for recommendations.
“Currently the office for registration of political parties and certificates is in preparation for the top recommendations on political subjects and candidates that have applied to be certified for participation in the May 19th elections in these four municipalities. Office recommendations will be presented at the Central Election Commission meeting, which is scheduled to be held during tomorrow, Tuesday. What will be the contents of the recommendations regarding these applications will be made known at the CEC meeting, then there are the members of the CEC that will decide on this matter”, he said.
But even though the certificate has not been made today, as before, Elez is convinced that there will be no influence in other terms that are approved by the Central Election Commission's operational plan.
From April 9th, there has been a deadline for handing over observers' requests for extraordinary elections in northern Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zvecan, but no one has yet applied to observe these elections.
So far, at the moment we're talking, we haven't accepted any applications on the part of any organization either from civil society, then even from a media home to accredited as watching to follow the election process. Not only on Election Day, but also the process that takes place at the counting centre and results. The deadline for application for accredited as observer will be completed by May 12th”, he said.
Valmir Elez has encouraged all political subjects and organisations to apply as observers for participation during the election process and counting votes.
He, among other things, said the CEC is conducting all preparations based on the planning, saying they are ready for these elections, which will be held on May 19th.
Otherwise, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, a few days ago, announced the mayoral elections of four municipalities in northern Mitrovica, who had resigned after a 100 per cent tax decision on Bosnian Serb products was made in Government.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Serb List will also take part in these elections.
