Serbian media: Haradinaj slammed into Macroni, accepted visas in exchange for tax

The meeting of the leaders of the Western Balkans and the European Union held in Berlin on Monday, at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron and the Kosovo issue in focus, marked a series of tense situations that were about to escalate into open conflict, writes the Serbian newspaper “Blic”, [...]
The Belgrade daily claims that the protagonist of all the conflicts mentioned above was Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who, according to the paper, has first crashed with Macroni, and then, in some cases, with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
According to “Blic”, France's president has personally insisted and tried to pressure Haradinaj to remove the 100 per cent tax on products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which continues to be in force due to exactly what the Serbian newspaper, Haradinaj's stubbornness, says. “Blic” claims to have learned that the offer made to him has been visa liberalisation, in exchange for a six-month baptism for the tax.
However, Haradinaj has rejected the alleged offer, according to the Belgrade daily. Macron, according to the diplomatic sources of “Blic”, has proved strict following what the Serbian newspaper has called the leader's arrogant behaviour by Pristina.
“Blic” writes that France's president has told Kosovo prime minister that he is in no position to ask for anything, and that he has practically threatened that Pristina will gain nothing, nor will visa liberalisation under such circumstances. “We don't give it to”, Macron bluntly told Haradinaj, according to sources from the Serbian newspaper.
Even Merkel has had no understanding of what “Blic” has called the brutal behaviour of the Kosovo leader, though his stance against touching the borders is in line with that of Germany. However, according to newspaper sources, Merkel has repeatedly tried to persuade him to change his position, and that there has been much patience, but that Haradinaj has maintained his initial stance.
Conflicts, as he calls “Blic”, with the same protagonist, have not ended there. A contrary stance with Haradinaj in Berlin has also shown Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, and the two heads of state have been ahead of an open conflict all the time. It is no secret, says the Belgrade newspaper, that Thaci does not protect the tax as aggressive as Haradinaj, while he has expressed readiness to abolish it. Thaci, however, has on the other hand spoken openly about the so-called correction of borders, but also about the need for the leading role of America in Kosovo-Serbia negotiations.
An open conflict between the two Kosovo leaders has occurred during the presentation for a joint picture of all participants at the summit for the Balkans in Berlin. Haradinaj and Thaci, according to “Blic”, have declined to stand next to each other in the photograph.
