Twenty years ago, a major massacre was also committed in Gjakova by Serb paramilitary forces. On April 1st and 2nd 1999, Serbian forces massacred 21 women and children of the Wejsa, Caka and Hoxha families, It says Periscope.
The only survivor of that massacre was Dren Caka, then ten years old.
I bring this to memory, MP. Mimoza Kusari Lila writes:
Dren Caka, 10, the only survivor of the April 1-2th 1999 massacre in Gjakova, the day 21 women and children of the Vejsa families, Caka and Hoxha, Dren's younger two-year-old sister, who could not save her from Serbia's smoke and bullets.
Dren escaped with a bullet in his hand, but along with Mother and sisters, his childhood was also killed. She was only ten years old and lived to tell the story that would follow until she reached the union with Mom and sisters.
Like Dren, many other children -- young and old -- have Kosovo carrying the stories of crimes committed in Kosovo.
These stories are the will of freedom and the state of Kosovo! These stories are our very existence.
We will never forget!
Glory!
Otherwise, in his testimony at The Hague, Dren described the occasion as a bad dream.
