49 people were left dead following attacks on mosques in the town of Christchurch in New Zealand after an armed man opened fire on Muslims during Friday's prayers.
The BBC reports that this is the worst attack on New Zealand's history, with the country's prime minister, Yacinda Ardern, who described the case as a terrorist attack, broadcast Express.
Authorities there took security measures immediately after the attacks, with police patrolling mosques in Britain, Sydney and other major European cities.
Despite the growing threat of terrorist attack, more than 1,000 Muslims gathered in Australia's mosque to pray for those who were killed and injured in the terrible attack on New Zealand.
