Following the US Embassy's response to the CEC's impasse, President Hashim Thaci has decided Thursday to appoint the new members of this election body, including by two members for the LDK and the VV. The Vetevendosje movement has confirmed for Kosovo that despite all of President Thaci's current claims, all parliamentary groups are entitled to 1 members, they have received official reports that they belong to two members in the CEC.
The CEC member candidate from Vetevendosje, Adnan Rrustemi, said they expect this body to be functional Thursday, as the Constitution requires.
“We today have received invitations for two members, as we were due, as the Constitution and the election outcome guarantees. We expect Thursday to function the CEC constitutionally”, Rrustemi said.
The invitation to two members in the CEC has been received and the LDK, which Sami Hamiti has confirmed, who said that along with Florian Dusin will represent this party in the CEC.
For a KEC delegate has received and the PDK, where Ilir Gashi from this party said the invitation has come to him individually and has no information about who else from the coalition PAN will be a new member of the CEC.
“Today I have an individual invitation, I don't know how anyone else has been invited, but I personally have an invitation to attend Thursday's” oath ceremony.
The AAK parliamentary group's chief, Ahmet Isufi, said there is information that she has been invited to swear on Thursday to this party's KEC envoys.
While the PSD spokeswoman, Red Nature has confirmed to Kosovo that they have not accepted any invitation from the president for CEC member.
Outside the CEC as it appears will remain and the Social Democrat Initiative will remain, as MP Enver Hoti has voiced for Kosovo Press, that no invitation has gone to their ranks for new members in the CEC.
For election affairs connoisseur Rasim Alija, President Thaci would no doubt have to appoint him from two VV and LDK members, since, according to him, any other option would lead the CEC to the blockade.
The president of the country has clearly violated the laws even at the delay in appointing members of the CEC, but also in the way he has invited political subjects for nominations. Under the laws, the 2014 Constitutional Court ruling, and institutional memory of the appointment of members of the CEC, the president would have to appoint him from two members for the LDK, VV and PAN. Any other option would lead to the blockade further, as the opposition would address Constitutional Court”, Alija told Kosovas.
Otherwise, it has been more than a year since the CEC has been blocked, not naming the new members of this institution. Meanwhile, President Thaci through his information office has indicated that new members in the CEC will be sworn in Thursday.
