He said the KLA on earth and NATO in the air, in the joint struggle for peace, forced the surrender of the Milosevic regime.
President also indicated that the intervention of NATO, which banned ethnic cleansing, obliges us with increased institutional and political commitment to preserve and guarantee the rights of all communities living in Kosovo.
President Thaci's full mailing to Facebook:
Following failure of diplomatic efforts to force Serbia to disrupt brutal offensives and massacres on Kosovo's civilian population, former secretary NATO, Javier Solana, had ordered the start of NATO's attacks on Serbian forces on 23 March 1999. Even today, when we remember these days two decades later, we enjoy the great joy we experienced in those very difficult moments for our people. This was the beginning of the genocide ban and the restoration of our hope for freedom and independence. The KLA on earth and NATO in the air, in the joint struggle for peace, forced the surrender of the Milosevic regime. NATO's intervention, which banned ethnic cleansing, also obliges us with increased institutional and political devotion to preserve and guarantee the rights of all communities living in our country. The Republic of Kosovo is and will forever be the joint homeland of all its citizens.
