In that long confession, Latifi relates how they had received news that in the village of Ternavc, located north of Prekazi, large police forces had been gathered and headed for Precazi, where the target of the attack had been the family of the Legendary Commander Adem Jashar.

Latify relates how they had heard about the serious attack on the Yashhar family with heavy artillery and how no one wanted to believe Commander Adam Yashari was already dead.

Dear Friends

Here you can read my confession on March 5, 1998

We were all asleep. About five o'clock in the morning, a loud knock was heard at the court doors. I quickly dressed up and walked into the yard. Father came worried about meeting the man he knocked on. He told us that he was the Voice of Qazim, a cousin of ours. Zymer had announced that large police forces had been gathered in Ternavc, a village north of Prekaz. Some of them had entered the Prekaz street.

That was enough to make us believe that these forces were within reach of the Precasis School. If this were to happen, then our neighborhood would practically be placed under siege. Father ordered: <x0... They all stood up, having in mind what had happened in Lisbon and Licoshan a few days earlier. The sadness was great.

He didn't delay, and there was a loud noise. It was the tanks moving from Ternavci to Scytheright. The night had not yet passed, and the noise the tanks made in her quiet was even more frightening. Nobody knew what was going on. People in the neighborhood had gathered on the screen.

Since autumn 1997, at the facility of the former Munich Fabric, there had been concentrations of Serbian police units, and someone, who remembered this, suggested that maybe this tank movement had to do with any sub-entity. If only it were! Who knew the truth then?

In the lower part of Precazi, nothing moved. For a while, the sound of tanks stopped. Looks like they made it to Skenderaj. The silence was shattered by several arms blasts heard on the hill over Skenderaj, which separates the city from the village of Lyusha. We thought they were attacking at Lausa. There had been dramatic developments since November 1997. An armed confrontation had occurred between a group of KLA and Serbian police. A day after that, at the funeral of teachers Halit Geci, who was killed by police on the day of confrontation, three uniformised KLA members appeared publicly.

Remembering these events made us think that Serbs had now returned to retaliate. Then two rifle shots were heard. They were much closer than the first. Someone said these came from the part that separates Prekaz and the lower Kline. What was going on?

It could not have been more than ten minutes when we saw a large pile of men, women, and children in the Dukkaje neighborhood who were leaving terrified in the field toward our neighborhood. Things began to clear up. Serbian police were entering Prekaz. Then someone called attention to the Jashar quarter. On the road leading from Skenderaj to this neighborhood, armor was visible. The mystery of all those moves, which we were unable to connect, now dawned on us. The Jashar Quarter was being surrounded.

It must have been 6:30 in the morning when the shooting started. It was a shootout I had only seen in movies. It had become a day, and everything was clear. A massive attack had been launched on the house complex of Adam Yashhar. Police had apparently implemented a quick neutralisation operation, but had faced strong resistance within the houses attacked.

This shootout didn't last more than half an hour when what to see started a massive home grenade. It was starting to look like Plan B: target artillery bombing. Within two to three hours everything was covered by the smoke of houses that had been on fire. By noon, as a cousin had shown us, 125 artillery shells had been dropped on Adam Jashar and other houses of the Jashar Quarter. Everything was beyond imagination. An army of heavy artillery had been attacked against a single family. The Bible account of David's encounter with Goliath is poor compared with what was happening that day in Prekaz.

During that time, women and children from other neighborhoods left in the direction of Miicica and Luboveci. With some of my cousins, I left in the direction of the Prekazi school. Near it, a group of people had gathered on Mt. Miicnica. Some of them were armed. They talked about attacking the police from the Dushkaje Quarter, but what could they really do with those three-four guns and the little ammo they had? Someone said that anyone who has any weapons should be called, and someone that maybe the KLA people, scattered through the villages, are coming to help, and some others have identified the fact that Prekazi is an open and without forests, and that it made the idea of approaching the siege line, to hit him afterwards. Two men from the village of Duboc, who had experienced this, had been shot away by the police. One of them died. The other, with large wounds, managed to pull out at nightfall.

In the first few hours after noon, the first living from the Jashar quarter came. Among them was a badly injured boy. His name was Riyadh. My brother Jevdet, a professional doctor, offered his first aid there on Mt. Miicnica. The wounded man was in shock. Amid the terrible pains that were destroying his body, he related how the police had entered the house by executing everyone he encountered. From him we learned the first names of those killed in the Jasharan Quarter.

Hours were slowly, terribly slow, as we all looked forward to the night. We thought rescues would come with us at night. Hadn't Azem Bata once said, the legendary bounty leader, that the day is ours “We all believed one thing: Adam is alive, and the night comes out of him. Like heroes of ancient epic legends and songs. The night came and people's desires took the arms of imagination and speculation. It was said that Adam had left the siege. It was rumored that he was seen in Miicice. He was told that he was injured but was outside the siege. Talk and talk, only his death no one thought. The legend about him was on his way. An entire nation would rise from it. Fear of death had been overcome. And by that, as Hegel meant, the tyrant had lost his first battle with the oppressed.
