Compulsion has sparked a major debate in Italy, while parents risk being punished up to 500 euros if they send their children to school without vaccinating them.
This arrangement was followed by an increase in measles. With new law called “Lawrence”, as the former minister of health who conceived this rule, children must take certain vaccines before attending school to protect themselves from certain diseases.
Children younger than six will be expelled from gardens if they are not vaccinated, while those between 6 and 16 years old will not be denied the right to education, but their parents will be punished.
