British MPs have caused a new humiliating defeat to Prime Minister Theresa May after voting to take over her parliamentary watch to enable them a series of votes for its Brexit agreements.
An amendment offered by former conservative minister Oliver Letwin was approved, with 329 votes pro and 302 against Monday evening, after MPs were angry with the government's failure to make a new effort, Periscope follows.
The prime minister had earlier denied whether he would accept any results of this process.
The government issued a strong statement after passing this amendment, warning that it “reflects balance between our democratic institutions and sets dangerous and unpredictable precedents for the future”.
Three ministers have resigned from the government in order to support Letwin's amendment: Foreign Affairs Minister Alistair Burt, Health Minister Steve Brine and business minister Richard Harrington. 29 conservatives went against the party and voted the amendment. /Periscopi
